Our projects
First Contact Mental Health Assessments
Access to local mental health support.
Who we are
Mental health and wellbeing support through your practice
Mental well-being is just as important as physical health, and support is available directly through your local GP practice.
In Taff Ely, each surgery has dedicated Mental Health Practitioners, who are part of the team. If you’re experiencing feelings of anxiety, low mood, or any other concerns related to your mental health, you can call your practice.
How we help
Steps to accessing support from a Mental Health Practitioner
This service is designed to make it easier to access help and get the right support when it’s needed most.
- When you call your GP practice, the receptionist/care navigator will help you book an appointment with the Mental Health Practitioner – no referral needed.
- During your appointment, the Mental Health Practitioner will talk with you about how you’re feeling and carry out an initial assessment.
- From there, they can provide advice, offer early support, and guide you to the most appropriate services – whether that’s counselling, community resources, or more specialist care.
