Classes

Foodwise for Life classes

Foodwise for Life is a free, informal course designed to support you on your weight loss journey. The classes are fun, engaging, and can be completed either in person or online. Sessions include advice on:

  • Controlling portion sizes: Discover what a healthy portion size is, and how to manage and cook with portions that are appropriately sized.
  • Managing hunger and cravings: Strategies that will help you manage your cravings and maintain your diet without giving in to them.
  • Moving more: Ways to incorporate more movement into your daily life? We provide many ideas to help you find a form of exercise you enjoy.
  • Understanding food labels: Learn more about which parts of food labels to pay attention to and what they mean to help you make informed choices in the supermarket.
  • Conquering obstacles: Overcome common hurdles such as motivation and lack of knowledge in your journey to living a healthier life.
  • Swapping, not cutting out: Make healthier food choices without feeling deprived of your favourites by swapping to healthier alternatives rather than cutting out altogether.

Benefits

The benefits of making healthier choices

The pros of healthy eating aren’t just restricted to a healthy weight and feeling happier in your own skin. There are many other important positives that come with opting for a healthier lifestyle, including:

  • Improved mood and energy: Healthy foods and a balanced diet will boost your mood and energy levels.
  • Stronger immune system: Managing a diet rich in fruits, vegetables, and whole grains strengthens your immune system, reducing the risk of preventative illnesses.
  • Better heart health: Healthy diets can massively decrease the risk of heart disease, specifically diets low in sodium and unhealthy fats.
    • Digestive health: High-fibre foods promote a healthy digestive system and prevent issues like constipation.
    • Long-term health benefits: Healthy eating will lower your risk of chronic diseases such as diabetes, hypertension, and certain cancers in the long run.
