What to do if you're experiencing symptoms

If you have been suffering with genital symptoms such as pain, burning or discharge, or if you are concerned about a sexually transmitted infection, then you can either speak to your GP, or arrange a full review with a GUM (genito-urinary medicine) specialist.

What we do

Cwm Taf Sexual Health Clinic offer all aspects of contraception, sexually transmitted infection screening, advice and referral for womens’ and mens’ health matters. This includes:

  • Contraceptive methods such as oral contraception, injections, implants, inter uterine contraceptive devices.
  • Sexual health screening for chlamydia, gonorrhoea, syphilis, HIV and more.

The service also provides pregnancy advisory clinics which can be accessed via walk in clinics or GP referrals and cervical cytology clinics which can be accessed by walk in or appointments. Appointments can be made by telephoning the numbers provided.

Who is it for?

This advice and information is for anyone needing guidance and support for sexual or reproductive health. We also have dedicated young peoples’ services (11 – 25 years) which are indicated in the clinic timetable.

Can anyone use this service?

Yes our walk in services are indicated in our clinic timetables, if appointments are required this is indicated in our clinic timetable. GPs are able to refer into services too.

What to expect

All sexual health services are confidential and tailored to meet individual needs. Where necessary we are also able to help patients by referring them to other agencies.

The Frailty Nurses are working for the GP practices in Taff Ely to provide assessment, advice and support for patients, their families and carers at home.

Case UK Wellbeing Support

Case UK offer rapid access to physiotherapy, psychological, and occupational therapy across Cwm Taf Morgannwg and Taff Ely area. It is fully funded by the Welsh Government and comes at no cost to you.
