About the menopause

The menopause is a natural process in a woman’s life and marks the end of your reproductive years. It usually effects women between the ages of 45 and 55 years old and could come with a range of symptoms.

The symptoms of menopause include:

  • Hot flushes
  • Night sweats
  • Trouble sleeping
  • Headaches
  • Mood changes
  • Urinary tract infections
  • Palpitations
  • Trouble remembering
The stages of menopause

There are three stages to the menopause:

  • Before menopause (Perimenopause):
This is when periods become irregular, and you might experience symptoms like hot flashes, mood swings, trouble sleeping, brain fog and fatigue. For many people the perimenopause can last years.
  • Menopause:
This is when you haven’t had a period for 12 months in a row. Hormones change, which can lead to symptoms like hot flashes and dryness.
  • After menopause (Post-menopause):
After menopause, some symptoms might improve, but there’s a higher risk of problems like weak bones and heart issues due to lower hormone levels.
