Free Mindfulness and Stress Control Courses
Valleys Steps is an organisation that works in partnership with Cwm Taf UHB to teach people ways of boosting their well-being and managing and reducing stress, anxiety and low mood.
We do this by providing free of charge, open access Stress Control and Mindfulness courses across Rhondda Cynon Taf.
Mindfulness
Valleys Steps offer a 6-week Mindfulness for Everyday course. Mindfulness is about much more than meditation, Mindfulness is a way of being that can be developed. It can help us relate differently to our experience and improve anxiety, depression and other emotional and physical health concerns. It can increase our wellbeing through deepening our appreciation of our lives. Valleys Steps Mindfulness for everyday course is designed to be an introduction to the practise.
Stress Control
Stress Control is a 6 week course that teaches skills that can be used to help manage stress. It is based on a therapy called CBT (Cognitive behavioural therapy) and can be useful for people who want to learn more about issues such as low mood, anxiety, low self-confidence and other stress related problems. Over the 6 weeks the course helps us understand how stress can affect the way we feel physically, the way we think and what we do and shows us how we can make changes so as to feel better.
Both courses are run on an open access basis. There is no need to book and everyone is welcome. There is no group discussion in the courses, we’ll do the talking.
Courses are run in community venues across Rhondda Cynon Taff and Merthyr Tydfil. Venues include, Pontypridd Museum, St Dyfrigs Church Hall, Treforest, Talbot Green Community Centre and Caerlan Hall, Llantrisant.
Both courses run weekly for 6 weeks. Its best if you attend all 6 sessions. See the website www.valleyssteps.org or give us a call on 01443 803048 for further details or to find a course near you, or click here for available course dates (June-August 2018, see page 5).
